Miah sighed, biting her lip as she looked over at Ben. She wasn’t sure how, but she knew that he would not willingly betray them again. She sensed he was different; his irritated attitude and distracted mind was gone, and he had a new look in his eyes.
She got back into the car, and Connor sat up front next to the driver so that there was enough room for the three of them in the back. As they pulled away, a misty rain began to fall, and the pitter-patter on the windows and the hum of the engine soon lulled her to sleep.
