About The Serial Story Author

Hi!

2013:
My name is Ashley.  I started writing my story in 2012 when I was in 10th grade.  I was going to an online school because I lived overseas.  I started out posting each episode to the social network of my online school for my friends to read, and my friends that read it from the beginning episode told me to continue it.  A lot of people liked reading it and got the idea from me to write new 'serial stories' of their own.  I also wrote poetry, which I now post to HelloPoetry.com.

Anyways, after I left the country and moved to the States, I started a blog and began posting edited (and sometimes extended) versions of my episodes.  I posted the first one with the day I wrote the first episode, November 23, and continued to post them as if posted one per day from that date.

2014:
I'm in 11th grade now, and I have recently started posting again, continuing with the one-a-day system.  I have written a total of 96 episodes of "The Note" so far, and plan on writing 100 episodes total, with a sequel serial story called Season II coming in August or September. (Edit: Probably not. Sorry.)

In the beginning, the relationships between Miah and the other characters somewhat mirrored my relationships between myself and my friends.  Now, the relationships are more blurry, but they still resemble what they were.  I won't give anything away, though, so I'll leave you to wonder what eventually happened. ;)
While I was posting edited episodes, I tried to post every day, but I kept the unedited manuscript for those of you who were anxious to see what happened, that I can send to anyone who is interested.  From Episode 88 and onward, I wrote them and posted them immediately to the blog, as I had caught up with myself on the editing.  Episodes 90-100 were written directly to the blog.

I hope that Season II will be as fun as this first season was, and I look forward to hearing from all of you, my friends and readers!  Thanks, everyone, for the support!  I would have stopped writing a long time ago if it weren't for you. :)

Please feel free to comment anything you like!

2015:
Hey y'all, it's been a journey, both for the characters and for me.  Graduating has been one of the biggest changes.  While the story was set in 2015 when I would have graduated, and the last two weeks of May, the setting of this story, have come and gone, I still keep in mind where the story might go.

I often wonder what I would do if I were in Miah's position--and now that I'm in the same phase of life, post-high-school, it's even easier to imagine.  I doubt that I'll have much time while I'm away at college to work on the blog or do any further editing, but this summer I plan to spend at least an hour a day working on editing.  Who knows how long that will last, but there's got to be a plan if anything's going to happen at all.

Once more, commenting is the whole point of my posting this to a blog, so comment away!  Thanks, everyone, for all your support! :)

2016:
Heeeey! Just finished my first year of university at this point.  Four years later, and I'm still working on this thing.  It's gone from a freewrite, to a serial story, and now to a first-person perspective, chapter-based novel.  I've been rewriting most of it, changing things, adding scenes, and taking out a lot of stuff.  Previously, I had a lot of 'telling vs showing' problems, and that's been one of my targets this time around.  I'll be posting the edits in blocks of chapters at a time, four large sections in all, most likely.  Chapters 1-5 make up the first quarter of the story, ranging from Episodes 1-24.
Please let me know what you think of this huge change and the new perspective!  Thanks for your support! :)

~Ashley~
