The girl opened her eyes. She felt like she was lying on a freezing cold sheet of metal. She was wearing some kind of hospital robe. Blinking, she tried to sit up. She froze when she saw her legs.
What in the world…?
She reached down and touched her knees, which were covered in a shiny metal plate. Her legs were bound in a black material and on her feet were black, grey, and silvery boots. She moved them, and felt a strange pinching sensation in the back of her head. She shook her head and rubbed her scalp, and found that there was a small bald section in the back of her head.
The girl’s eyes widened. There was something underneath the skin. She looked down at her legs and moved her foot up again. The pinching feeling bit her head again, and she winced. When she stopped moving, the pain eased a bit.
What’s going on here…She clutched a hand to the back of her head as she used her other arm to steady herself. Leaning against the wall, she swayed for a few seconds, and then stood still. She looked down at her legs again and felt taller. The boots look like heels, she thought.
She looked around at the walls and saw a mirror. The girl walked up to it slowly, finding balance strangely hard, and placed her hands on the mirror. Was it really a window? She tried hard to look in. When she couldn’t see anything, she looked at herself. She looked thin and pale, and her eyes had dark circles under them. There was a bandage on the back of her hand, and she suspected she’d had an IV in. Am I in a hospital? Nothing was making sense.
