Episode 57

It was growing dark as they walked, and it felt like someone was trying to saw Miah’s head in two.  She was so tired; she held onto Ben’s arm as he plodded on, his eyes on the road ahead.  She hoped with all her heart that this would be worth it.  Nothing seemed to make sense, and with her head split in two, she couldn't afford a heart that way, too.  So she stuck with him.

“We should reach a city soon,” he panted, and Miah sighed.

“I hope so…” She tripped on a rock and grabbed at Ben’s arm to stop herself from falling, and he stopped.

“Let’s take a break for a minute,” he muttered, and they sat down.

Miah fell wordless onto the grass and laid back, holding her head and breathing slowly.  She closed her eyes, trying to escape the pain in her head.

“Just a quick rest,” Ben sighed, leaning back.
